Curriculum
The "Core Knowledge" movement is an educational reform based on the premise that a grade-by-grade core of common learning is necessary to ensure a sound and fair elementary education. Currently, hundreds of schools and thousands of dedicated educators are participating in this school reform movement throughout the United States.
The Core Knowledge© Sequence represents the common ground upon which a faculty meets and collaborates to teach a sequenced, coherent curriculum. In this cumulative curriculum, the knowledge and skills learned each year become the students' foundation for learning in subsequent years.
PVSchools implements the Core Knowledge curriculum across the district. Created by the renowned E.D. Hirsch Jr., the Core Knowledge Foundation is committed to providing an unparalleled education to learners of every age. This meticulously crafted program covers various subjects, including language arts, history, geography, math, science, music, and visual arts, and is offered from preschool through eighth grade.
The mission of the Curriculum Department is to increase student achievement through the provision of systemic innovative curricula characterized by standards and research-based educational programs that deliver effective and differentiated instruction in partnership with schools, families, and the diverse PVSchools community.
In PVSchools, we engage, inspire, and nurture students through high-quality instruction, meaningful educational opportunities, and dynamic learning experiences. Curriculum, adhering to Arizona state standards, is adopted transparently with opportunities for community feedback.
Curriculum Adoptions
To nurture creativity, curiosity, and strategic thinking through dynamic learning experiences, PVSchools routinely evaluates curriculum resources and provides recommendations for curriculum adoptions.
